Thanks To Delta Waterfowl, The Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge Has A New Photography Blind On Their Nature Trail

If you’re like me, an avid nature photographer, you will hopefully appreciate the generous upgrade to the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge nature trail with a new photography blind, thanks to a local chapter of Delta Waterfowl.

The photography blind is located on the southern tip of the refuge nature trail, sitting on the bank of a small pond facing east.

There has been a photography blind in this location for quite a while but the Cache Valley chapter of Delta Waterfowl replaced and upgraded the previous structure with this new blind.

Last week after hearing about the new photography blind, I took a walk out to the new structure to see what was built.

(The new refuge photography blind is designed for standing and has three movable windows that can either be left open or closed if desired.)

Built for standing as the three windows are at eye level and there is no bench with this blind, it does, however, give a good place to photograph from while staying hidden from your subjects while under some shade, something the previous photo blind didn’t have.

You could probably fit 2 photographers comfortably in the blind but they would have to photograph from different windows, located on three of the walls with one window facing north, another facing east, and the other facing southward.

It took me about 15 minutes to walk the nature trail to the photography blind on both the concrete and gravel portions of the trail leading to the new structure.

The Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge nature trail and photography blind are both open and available to use on a first come first serve basis anytime the refuge parking lot gate is open, typically 7 days per week from sunrise to sunset unless there is an unexpected closure of some kind.

I, personally, haven’t used the photography blind yet myself but with this new structure, I just might have to give it a try sometime.
