We are going to try something new here with our ongoing efforts of trying to show everyone just how incredible nature is by using a little bit of technology to help bring nature to you when you can’t get out in nature.
What this means is Bear River Blogger is going to broadcast occasional live video feeds on YouTube from the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge auto tour route as well as from other areas we can get a decent enough Wi-Fi connection.
The main intent is to show live YouTube feeds during various times of the year when the refuge auto tour route is filled with life.
One example of this will be when the Tundra swans are migrating north and stopover on the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge in February and March to feed and rest for a few weeks.
It is quite a spectacle to see if you’ve never witnessed it before, especially when the ice is just starting to pull off of the water and the swans are vocalizing and carrying on as they fight over small pieces of real estate and courting their mates.
I’ve recorded videos before for our YouTube channel but I am hoping a live YouTube feed will give anyone not able to visit the refuge a feel for being there in person.
Today, I took a drive out to the refuge auto loop and tested the reception, and from what the resulting video below shows, it looks like there is enough reception to produce a live feed out on the auto tour route.
(Bear River Blogger is going live on YouTube.
Don’t forget to subscribe to our Bear River Blogger YouTube channel for short nature clips, occasional live feeds, and periodic updates about the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge and other places in nature of interest.)
It will be a work in progress but hopefully, we can capture and show some of the actual activity on the refuge.
Today’s video, I will admit, was pretty bland as the auto loop was extremely slow for birds today but it was a good technology test nevertheless.
So if you are interested in these live feeds, head on over to our YouTube channel to subscribe and click the bell for notifications.
We will also try and post here as well a few days in advance on any planned live YouTube feeds.
But with how spontaneous nature can be, we may do some impromptu live feeds if interesting enough situations arise on our birding trips so following our channel will help with notifications on those times when we can’t get a blog post up about any spontaneous live feeds we may stream.
Hopefully, this will be a huge success and we can live-stream some of the actual action that can be found on the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge throughout the year.
We appreciate your readership and if you haven’t done so already, we offer you to head on over to our subscribe page and sign up for email notifications for future blog posts.
