If you were to ask me for the best location for sunset photography in the world, I would have to say the Great Salt Lake has the most spectacular sunsets anywhere. Regardless if your a birder, photographer, or just someone who loves to get outdoors, the Great Salt Lake is definitely worth a visit or two.
Antelope Island is the best place on the Great Salt Lake to take sunset photographs. You can easily photograph sunsets from the causeway or on the backside of the island.
Almost like clockwork, I visit Antelope Island and the Great Salt Lake twice each week, and I always have a camera with me. I have photographed sunsets at the Great Salt Lake near the island for many years now, and it is still one of my most favorite places for sunset photography.
Since I love birds and nature, the Great Salt Lake is one of my top go-to sunset photography spots because, well, sometimes the lake gives us persistent nature photographers an opportunity to include a little bit of its bird-life in the photo.
A few months ago, I was fortunate to photograph a sunset depicting some of the migratory birds that frequent the Great Salt Lake during fall migration.

It had to be one of the most peaceful, serene times and places I have ever experienced. It was just me, my camera, the sunset, and hundreds of birds sitting out in front of me on the salty water.
